Available is a stunning 88mm carving knife made from stunning rare Suffolk Yew burr
Blade: This blade gives a narrower edge bevel than most sloyds. The edge is flat ground, a hollow would disappear very quickly. This blade is more manoeuvrable in a concave cut. If you can’t keep the edge bevel dead flat it’s not a major issue, the blade will turn even better. The primary grind allows the tang to be rigid enough for more powerful cuts.
These blades were designed by Nic Westermann to echo some features of the turning sloyd and have a subtly hollowed spine that has been smoothed and polished for comfort when push cutting.
Handle: The handle is crafted from a stunning piece of Suffolk yew burr and trim inlcudes 5000 year old bog oak from the Lincolnshire fens. Carbon dating has aged these bog oak trees at 5000 years old.
Leather: The knife is being sold with a handstitched leather blade slip or a sheath is available as an option or contact me for further sheath options.
The knife set comes with a matching double sided yew and spalted beech keyring with branded leather tabs
