Available is a stunning 85mm carving knife made from 5000 year old English bog oak and mammoth tusk insert
Blade: Handforged blade from Kay Embretsen in Sweden and is 55mm long. The blade is made with a carbon steel center, and mild steel on the sides. This makes the blade easy to maintain a sharp edge.
Handle: The handle is crafted from a stunning piece of 5000 year old bog oak from the Lincolnshire fens.
The bog oak has been dug up from the Lincolnshire fens and carefully air dried then kiln dried before being quarter sawn to give a beautifully contrasting pattern.
Radio carbon dating has shown these ancient giant oaks to be around 3300BC.
Additional trim includes English yew from Suffolk. In the rear of the handle has been inserted a disc of wooly mammoth tusk over 8000 years old. The insert has been cut from the outer part of the tusk known as the bark so it would have been in direct contact with its surroundings thousands of years ago!
There is the additional of brass lanyard tubing in the rear of the handle and added length of handcut shoulder of veg tanned leather thonging
Leather: The knife is being sold with a handstitched leather blade slip or a sheath is available as an option or contact me for further sheath options.
