Available is a stunning English ash knife
Blade:
The design is understated Finnish, which adheres much to a form following function principle. The blades are simple and robust in their elegance, just like the Puukko style knives that they are meant for.
Blade length: 55 mm
Blade width: 16 mm
Blade thickness: 2,2 mm
Steel: X50CrMov15
Handle: The handle is crafted from a stunning piece of English ash from an ancient hillfort in Cambridgeshire. The knife trim is also made up of 5000 year old bog oak and more two tone ash.
The bog oak has been dug up from the Lincolnshire fens and carefully air dried then kiln dried before being quarter sawn to give a beautifully contrasting pattern.
Radio carbon dating has shown these ancient giant oaks to be around 3300BC.
A brass lanyard tube has been inserted into the rear of the handle and comes with a 1m length of handcut thick leather thonging.
Leather: The knife is being sold as knife only but a handstitched leather blade slip as seen in above photos can be purchased as an additional option.
To help keep your handle in good condition the knife includes a tin of Ash & Axe organic Cambridge beeswax and tung/linseed oil wax.
