Available is a stunning 88mm carving knife made from stunning quarter sawn Norfolk oak
Blade: Blade: O2 carbon steel. Hardness: 60hrc ±1. Blade length: 66mm. Blade thickness: 2,5mm
Handle: The handle is crafted from a stunning piece of Norfolk oak that has been quarter sawn during the milling process. Quartersawn timber is a premium wood-cutting technique where logs are quartered and then sawn to produce planks with grain oriented at 60-90 degree angles to the face. This method yields highly stable, straight-grained wood that resists cupping, twisting, and warping, while often displaying dramatic ray fleck patterns (especially in oak)
A piece of jet black East Anglian fens bog oak has been added as a spacer. Radio carbon dating has shown these ancient giant oaks to be around 3300BC.
Leather: The knife is being sold with a handstitched leather slip. The leather is vegetable tanned so no nasty chemicals used in the process
