Knife blade: Hand forged by Nic Westermann.

Blade approx 40mm x 20mm x12mm

A spoon carving blade forged from round stock, concave on the inside for easier sharpening and more accurate edge geometry, convex outside for smooth hollowing. This blade has a smaller radius hook than the Finishing blade meaning that very small or deep spoons can be easily carved. This blade will also cut larger spoon bowls, it is very easy to make the cuts but the finish will not be so smooth as with the larger blades, used this way it is ideal for children or beginners.

Handle: The handle is crafted from a stunning piece of English yew from Suffolk with additional 5000 year old bog oak from the Norfolk fens.

The bog oak has been dug up from the Norfolk fens and carefully air dried then kiln dried before being quarter sawn to give a beautifully contrasting pattern.

Radio carbon dating has shown these ancient giant oaks to be around 3300BC.

Sheath: Blade boxes are available separately in the shop
