Available is a stunning 88mm carving knife made from Suffolk yew burr and Thetford Forest spalted beech
Blade: 88mm x17mm x 3mm thick
A hollow ground sloyd blade suitable for green woodworking. These blades have been hand-sharpened after hollowing to give the easy to maintain flat-over-hollow edge geometry.
These blades were designed by Nic Westermann to echo some features of the popular turning sloyd and have a subtly hollowed spine that has been smoothed and polished for comfort when push cutting. This is a robust blade that will cope with dry as well as green wood.
Handle: The handle is crafted from a stunning piece of Suffolk yew burr with Thetford Forest Spalted beech and layers of 5ooo year old fenland bog oak
Radio carbon dating has shown these ancient giant oaks to be around 3300BC.
Leather: The knife is being sold with a handstitched leather blade slip or a sheath is available as an option or contact me for further sheath options.
